How to Sew Laser Stitches - Part 1
Create a unique embellishment using Laser Stitches in menu”I” on HUSQVARNA VIKING DESIGNER EPIC II.
Laser Stitches (Menu “I” on the DESIGNER EPIC™ II) allow you to build your own large decorative patterns using stitch “building blocks.” By combining stitches, mirroring, and programming, you can create endless custom embellishment designs with consistent alignment—thanks to the built-in Laser Guidance.
What You Need
- HUSQVARNA® VIKING® DESIGNER EPIC™ II
- Fabric
- Stabilizer
- Thread (your preferred color)
- Fabric marking pen
- Presser Foot S
Understanding Laser Stitches
Laser Stitches are designed so you can create your own large decorative patterns by combining the stitches found in Menu I.
Why they’re unique:
- Each stitch is a “building block” you can repeat, mirror, or combine
- The Laser Guidance helps you align stitches precisely—even when creating long patterns
- The machine automatically stops at the end of each repetition, letting you realign before sewing the next one
- You can instantly mirror or switch stitches while sewing
Tip
For best results:
- Sew each repetition until the machine stops automatically
- Use the Start/Stop button
- Deactivate Automatic FIX in Default Sewing Settings (stitches connect naturally—no need to fix each one)
- Turn on Needle Down to keep fabric from shifting
Preparations
- Draw a straight line with an erasable marking pen.
- Place stabilizer under your fabric.
- Go to Menu I and select your stitch. (Sample uses I:24)
- Attach Presser Foot S.
- Activate Laser Guidance and ensure the laser line is centered.
Sewing Laser Stitches
- Activate Needle Down.
- Start sewing along the marked line.
- Sew until the machine automatically stops at the end of the repetition—the stitch should begin and end on the drawn line.
- Continue sewing repetitions until you reach the desired length of embellishment.

Programming in Advance – Version 1
- Open Programming, go to Menu I, select I:24.
- Add two repetitions of the stitch.
- Mirror the second stitch side-to-side.
- Touch OK.
Sew your line. With each automatic stop, the machine returns to the center guide, making it easy to check alignment and adjust as needed.

Programming in Advance – Version 2
- Open Programming and select I:24.
- Add three repetitions.
- Mirror the third repetition.
- Touch Duplicate.
- Touch OK.

Sew along your guideline. The machine will return to the center line at every stop to help you stay accurately aligned.

Bonus Tip
Laser Stitches work beautifully on curves, too!
Use the same technique—but follow a curved guideline. Laser Guidance keeps the spacing even all the way along the curve.
