How to Use Fabric Stash

Build a digital library of the fabrics you own and apply them to your quilt designs in CREATIVATE™.

Get Started

  1. Click the Fabric Stash icon.

  2. On first launch, click Add Fabric.

  3. Choose how to add fabric: Load from Device, Choose a Default Fabric, or Paste from Clipboard.

  4. Take photos of your fabrics and save them on your computer.
  5. Click Load from Device.

  6. Locate the photo and click Open.

  7. Calibrate scale: drag handles between two points, then enter the real-world measurement.

  8. Crop a representative section for your thumbnail and project use.

  9. Click Apply to proceed to fabric info.

  10. Click the color square under the image to assign a color.

  11. Pick a color similar to the fabric’s overall appearance and click Apply.

  12. Enter a clear Fabric Name.

  13. Select a Fabric Type from the list.

  14. Toggle Prewashed if applicable.

  15. (Optional) Add Material Composition so totals equal 100%.

  16. (Optional) Add Fabric Inventory and Notes (Type, Season, location, store, etc.).

  17. Click Save.

  18. Click Choose a Default Fabric to add a solid-color swatch (no image).

  19. Open the color picker and select a hue.

  20. Click Apply (see “Last used” colors at bottom if needed).

  21. Confirm the swatch color is updated.

  22. Add name/type/notes as needed (same as Load from Device).

  23. In your browser, copy an online fabric image, then choose Paste from Clipboard.

  24. Fill in color, name, type, etc., as usual.

  25. On mobile/tablet, tap Add Fabric.

  26. Tap Capture from Camera.

  27. Frame a representative area and capture the photo.

  28. Now all your added fabrics will be synced across devices.

  29. View your fabrics in the Fabric Stash screen.

  30. Click a swatch to see info in the right panel; use Edit or Delete.

  31. Deleting shows a confirmation warning.

  32. After confirming, items move to Deleted fabrics for 30 days; use Restore fabric to bring them back.

  33. Open the CREATIVATE app and select Quilting.

  34. Click Load a Sample Quilt project.

  35. Select Striped Skinny Quilt and click OK.

  36. Open the right-panel Quilt Fabric icon/picker.

  37. Click the first color (e.g., Purple). Switch from Presets to the Fabric Stash tab.

  38. Pick your saved fabric (e.g., “Cats all over the place”) and click OK.

  39. The quilt updates with your fabric; repeat for other colors.
