The Yarn Couching Feet Set lets you stitch decorative yarn directly onto fabric — either in free-motion sewing mode or through your machine's embroidery function. The set includes two feet to suit different yarn weights, and a detailed instruction guide is included with the product.

Prima di iniziare

You can use this technique in one of two ways:

  • Free-motion sewing — guide the fabric by hand for organic, flowing designs
  • Embroidery mode — let the machine follow a design path automatically

The setup process is the same for both. The key difference is speed control, covered at the end.

Setting Up

  1. Thread the machine with a thread color that matches your yarn.
  2. Attach the yarn guides to the notches on the underside of the handle at the rear of the machine.
  3. Pull out your yarn — unwind enough from the ball to work comfortably without the yarn pulling tight as you sew.
  4. Place the yarn in the guides. The yarn must flow smoothly and without tension while stitching. This is one of the most important steps — any resistance or snagging will affect your results.
  5. Choose the right foot — Yarn Couching Foot 1 or Foot 2, depending on your yarn's thickness. The yarn should fill the hole in the foot snugly but still run through it easily.

Tip: For the best results, use yarn with an even, consistent thickness. Uneven yarn can cause the foot to skip or the needle to miss.

  6. Thread the yarn through the foot from above, using the yarn threader provided.
  7. Snap the foot onto the machine.

Sewing

  1. Begin stitching — and keep your speed slow and steady throughout.
    • Free-motion mode: A slow, even speed gives the needle time to pass cleanly through the yarn with each stitch. Rushing will cause missed stitches.
    • Embroidery mode: Set the machine to its lowest speed to ensure the yarn feeds correctly and the needle consistently catches the yarn as it stitches.
