How to Use the Ribbon Feet Set for Decorative Ribbon Embellishment
The Ribbon Feet Set makes it easy to stitch ribbon directly onto fabric as a decorative embellishment. The set includes three different feet to accommodate a variety of ribbon widths, and can be used for everything from free-motion designs to perfectly shaped hearts either drawn freehand or guided by the Circular Attachment templates.

Prima di iniziare
Stabilizer Use an iron-on tear-away stabilizer to support your fabric while sewing. The amount you need will depend on your fabric's weight and thickness. Always test on a scrap of the same fabric before starting your project.
Thread Choose a thread that suits your design — you can match your ribbon color, use monofilament for an invisible finish, or pick a contrasting color for a bold look.
Stitch Setting Always use a straight stitch when working with the Ribbon Feet Set. A wider or decorative stitch can damage the feet or break a needle.
Setting Up the Ribbon Feet Set
- Choose the right foot for your ribbon width. For best results, the ribbon should fill the slot in the foot and feed through smoothly without bunching or gapping.
- Thread the ribbon from the front of the foot, through the slot, and out the back. Pull at least 1–2" of ribbon through behind the foot before you begin.
- Attach the foot to the machine.
- Check ribbon flow — make sure the ribbon moves freely as you sew. You can place the ribbon spool to the right of the machine or drape it over your shoulder to keep it feeding smoothly and without tension.
Free Motion Ribbon Stitching
If your machine has a free motion function, you can use it with the Ribbon Feet Set to create organic, flowing designs.
- Hold the fabric end when you begin to prevent the ribbon from pulling
- Lightly guide the fabric to turn and change direction as you stitch
- Move smoothly and at an even pace for the best results

- Use lightweight, flat ribbons — avoid thick or textured ribbons that won't feed evenly
- You can cut your own ribbon from fabric, either straight grain or on the bias, for a custom look
- When stitching a spiral, always start from the inside and work outward

- Fabric marker or pen
- Your chosen ribbon

- Machine set up with the correct ribbon foot
Steps:
- Draw or trace a heart shape onto your fabric using a fabric marker. This will be your stitching guide.
- Set up your machine with the Ribbon Feet Set as described above.
- Thread your chosen ribbon through the foot.
- Stitch along the heart outline using a straight stitch, following your drawn line and guiding the fabric gently around the curves.
