How to Sew Laser Stitches - Part 2

Create Custom Embellishments Using Laser Stitches on the DESIGNER EPIC™ II

Laser Stitches (Menu “I” on the DESIGNER EPIC™ II) allow you to create beautiful, large decorative patterns using stitch “building blocks.” By combining stitches, mirroring, and programming, you can make endless variations—straight or curved—guided by the machine’s built-in Laser Guide.

What You Need

  • HUSQVARNA® VIKING® DESIGNER EPIC™ II
  • Fabric
  • Stabilizer
  • Thread (desired color)
  • Fabric marking pen
  • Presser Foot S

The Principle of Laser Stitches

Laser Stitches are designed so you can build your own large decorative pattern by combining stitches found in Menu I.

Why they’re special:

  • Each stitch acts like a building block
  • You can mirror, repeat, or reorder stitches to create unique patterns
  • The Laser Guidance helps you maintain perfect alignment
  • The machine automatically stops at the end of each repetition, giving you time to realign or make changes
  • You can instantly mirror or change stitches during sewing

⭐ Pro Tips

  • Sew each repetition until the machine stops automatically
  • Use the Start/Stop button for smooth, consistent stitching
  • Deactivate Automatic FIX (stitches connect continuously—no need to fix at each start)
  • Turn on Needle Down for better fabric control

Preparations

  1. Draw a straight guideline using an erasable fabric marker.

  2. Place stabilizer under your fabric.

  3. Go to Menu I and select your stitch

    • Example uses I:23

  4. Attach Presser Foot S

  5. Activate Laser Guidance and ensure the line is centered

Sewing Laser Stitches

1. Begin sewing

  • Activate Needle Down

  • Sew until the machine stops automatically

  • The stitch should begin and end on your drawn line

2. Continue

  • Sew additional repetitions until your embellishment reaches the desired length

Programming in Advance (1)

Create a simple mirrored sequence

  1. Go to Programming → Menu I, select I:23

  2. Add two repetitions

  3. Mirror the second stitch

  4. Click OK

  5. Sew your design—each automatic stop returns the machine to center alignment

Programming in Advance (2)

Add and mirror a three-stitch sequence

  1. In Programming, select I:23, then add three repetitions

  2. Mirror the third repetition

  3. Tap Duplicate

  4. Click OK

  5. Sew to the desired length, using the automatic stops for alignment

Programming in Advance (3)

Build a four-pattern mirrored sequence

  1. Go to Programming, select I:23, and add four repetitions

  2. Mirror the fourth repetition

  3. Tap Duplicate twice to create three mirrored stitches

  4. Click OK

  5. Sew the full pattern, using stops to stay aligned

Programming in Advance (4)

Add variation by adjusting length & width

  1. Go to Programming, select I:23, and add three repetitions

  2. Select the second stitch in the sequence

    • Adjust Length: 20.0

    • Adjust Width: 14.3

  3. Select the third stitch, then add another repetition

  4. Mirror this new repetition

  5. Tap Duplicate twice (for three mirrored stitches total)

  6. Return to the second-to-last stitch

    • Adjust Length: 20.0

    • Adjust Width: 14.3

  7. Click OK

  8. Sew until you reach your desired length

Bonus Tip

Laser Stitches can also be sewn along curved lines.
Follow a curved guideline just as you would a straight one—your stitches will remain evenly spaced thanks to the laser alignment.
